Ward Greenberg is excited to announce the selection of our 2020 Diversity Scholars, Esther Kang, a first-year student at the University of Iowa College of Law, and Snigdha Sharma, a first-year student at Temple University Beasley School of Law.
Now in its fifth year, the nationally recognized Ward Greenberg Diversity Scholar Program offers first-year law students the opportunity to participate in a 10-week paid summer appointment. In addition to performing meaningful work for the firm, the program includes a short-term secondment with an institutional client, providing the Scholars a chance to experience the duties and perspective of a lawyer with outside organizations. Successful Scholars are invited back to the firm for a summer associate position the following year.
According to firm Partner Jeff Harradine, having a team with many diverse perspectives allows the firm to better understand its clients and develop comprehensive solutions to their legal needs. The process to cultivate a diverse and inclusive environment starts at the recruitment stage, which is why the firm launched our Diversity Scholar Program.
“We are pleased to have Esther and Snigdha join us as the newest members of the Ward Greenberg Diversity Scholar Program. Each has a demonstrated history of commitment to the ideals of diversity and inclusion, which are central values of Ward Greenberg and its clients,” said Jeffrey Harradine, partner at Ward Greenberg. “We are excited to benefit from their talents, and by the opportunity for Esther and Snigdha to join us on our journey to becoming ever better thought leaders.”

Esther Kang received her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Commonwealth Honors College where she received the Honors Dean’s Award and graduated magna cum laude. During her first year at the University of Iowa College of Law, she has been involved with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. Ms. Kang will be located in Ward Greenberg’s Rochester office.

Snigdha Sharma received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Cornell University, where she was a member of Alpha Phi Omega and graduated cum laude. Ms. Sharma worked as an intern, writer and tutor in various communications roles prior to law school, as well as a position as a legal assistant responsible for filing motions electronically in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Ms. Sharma is a member of the Temple University Beasley School of Law’s South Asian Law Student Association. Ms. Sharma will be located in the firm’s Philadelphia office.
All of us at Ward Greenberg look forward to working with them both this summer!
